SXSW Party Time and We Bid Farewell to Another Legend

T-minus 9 days until the adult circus that is SXSW. Like Vegas for hipsters and techies, it comes on like a red hot cacophony of deafening blogosphere tech hype, and then morphs into five-day music orgy. Hard to not appreciate the spectacle, but it’s even harder to make a dent if you’re looking to say something meaningful. Not since Twitter and then Foursquare has a company really emerged out of it into the stratosphere. Whatsapp, Snapchat, never really paid much attention to SXSW, but Airbnb, Uber and other services certainly became staples during this impossible to find rooms and cabs week.

But back to music. There will be tons. Your phone is your lifeline. So pack your Mophie, find a couch or expensive hotel room to lay your weary head.

Listen to and view some of our faves performing at SXSW this year.

The third annual TastemakerX SXSW party will be on March 10th at the Speakeasy in Austin. We’re thrilled to announce that we will have Morning Parade, Painted Palms, The Apache Relay and Coin all playing, and we would love it if you joined us. Here’s the invite and the password is tasty

Lately it seems a bona fide legend passes away every week these days, so we’d like to take a final moment to remember he who brought us Meatballs, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Back to School, Groundhog Day and countless more. Goodbye Sir Harold.
